Contract Outreach Coordinator in Colorado Springs
Position: Outreach Coordinator
Reports to: Program Director
Location: Remote work based in Colorado Springs with the ability to occasionally travel through the Front Range.
Employment Category: Contract/Part-Time
Compensation: Starting pay is $25/hr for 40hrs per month. Potential for increase in hours and pay following performance review.
Position Summary
Comeback Yoga’s intention in creating this position is to extend our reach within the diverse military community to connect and serve more members within it. Reporting directly to the Program Director (PD), the Outreach Coordinator is in charge of military community engagement and outreach. This role requires a self-directed, mission-driven, and community-focused individual who sees the value in yoga as a resiliency tool and is passionate about supporting the military community. The ideal individual will possess strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills. Their ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities is important, along with the ability to shift priorities due to changing nature of work given limited time as a contractor
Since this position is remote with the exception of staff meetings, site visits, and events, the Outreach Coordinator needs to be able to thrive in a remote work environment, but also enjoy the exploration of, and regular engagement with the public and the communities we serve. Reliable internet is required for daily responsibilities and a dependable transportation option is needed for local travel. Areas that you may travel include Colorado Springs, Denver, and Northern Colorado. While much of the job will happen during regular business hours (M-F 8am-5pm), there will be some events and responsibilities that occur at times outside of that schedule such as representing Comeback Yoga at a Veteran association for example an American Legion.
Comeback Yoga is a small non-profit and the staff, the Executive Director (ED), Program Director (PD), Program Assistant (PA), and now, Outreach Coordinators work closely to ensure the program runs smoothly.
Principal Responsibilities:
Develop relationships with members of identified, key communities, as enumerated by the organization
Cultivate those relationships in an ethical, natural, conscious way that will facilitate meaningful and enduring connections
Increase our access points to different communities, including the ongoing assessment of effective methods of engagement (events, newsletters, media, etc) with a particular community
Share details with Comeback Yoga staff in a timely and effective manner, to allow for adaptation and refinement of organizational efforts to engage with the prioritized communities
Organize and staff Comeback Yoga’s presence at events where the military community or donors might attend (such as fairs and summits)
Local travel to meet with different military communities
Communicate professionally, kindly, and effectively about Comeback Yoga’s mission to potential students and connections
Regular review of communication modalities from the lens of the communities that they individually are part of or in which they have connections
Participates in team meetings with the ED, PD and PA via Google Meets and in-person as needed (once or twice per month)
Provides bi-weekly updates and monthly program reports to ED and PD
Supports in communication creation such as social media to more effectively communicate with different populations with the military
Additional duties be assigned by the PD or ED
Qualifications:
As an organization, we are aware of the diverse nature of the military community and includes individuals with marginalized identities including although not limited to BBIPOC, LGBTQIA+, women, non-binary people, individuals that identify as differently-abled. We believe that to serve the whole military community, we must include programming that supports marginalized individuals within this community more directly. Thus, we strongly encourage applications from individuals who are connected to the military with these identities or who are members of other marginalized communities, especially those who also demonstrate the ability to engage with and understand the complexities of the communities with whom Comeback Yoga seeks to meaningfully serve.
Preferred Experience:
Familiarity with non-profit sector
Veterans of the US Military are strongly urged to apply for this position, and are preferred
An understanding of or desire to understand the value of yoga as a supportive tool
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications, Google Suite, and social media web platforms
Highly experienced in community engagement
Preferred Competencies:
Strong time management skills and adaptability to the changing landscape of priorities. Especially considering the contracted available hours
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to take initiative, multi-task, be a team-player, be flexible, adapt to shifting priorities, and prioritize work
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to access a wide range of sources and networks for information
Good judgment and ability to function independently
Deep knowledge and understanding of Comeback Yoga’s mission
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations with diplomacy
Readily accepts responsibility and admits to errors
