CINDY D.

Cindy DeJulio was born and raised in Texas, but has lived in Montrose since 1991.  She taught elementary school for 28 years in Montrose and retired in 2023.  She is married to native Montrosian and a master craftsman.  They have two children, a son-in-law, a grand puppy and two grandbabies.  Cindy enjoys walking, paddle boarding, yoga, music, learning, teaching, hiking, reading, studying, and maintaining their home.  However, all these things are much more enjoyably and worthwhile when done with family and friends.

Cindy’s yoga journey started about 9 years ago. Yoga was offered at our local rec. center and she fell in love. However, she had very little understanding of what yoga was other than poses and postures. After practicing yoga for a few years, she wanted to learn more. In 2020, as her father was dyeing and amidst the Covid shutdown, she studied for her 200 YTT with Living Soul Institute out of Parker, CO. This was a very sweet time for her. The calm in the midst of all that uncertainty really grew her faith and taught her more of what faith is. Cindy has come to a personal understand of the healing aspects of yoga, breath, mindfulness and meditation.

Since that time, Cindy has started Open Door Yoga, hoping to make yoga accessible to all through private, semi-private, Trauma Sensitive and group yoga sessions.  She has been teaching 3-13 classes per week and has built some beautiful relationships in four different locations in Montrose.  Cindy finds joy in serving others through the practice of yoga. She has found, the moral and ethical conduct and self-discipline of yoga, moves her to a deeper and more meaningful healing, and she hopes to encourage that in each participant.

Cindy is now a 500 RYT (500 hour registered yoga teacher). She is eager to learn more and share beautiful and moving experiences with her students. Cindy is looking forward to serving those who have served our country.
