ALI C.

Ali Calfee is a veteran, mom, and yogi.  She retired 4 years ago after 21 years in the

United States Air Force.  Her career in the military was influenced by “the family business” with both parents serving in the US Navy sailors and numerous family members in different branches! Helping people and serving have always been a cornerstone in her life whether through facilitating Resiliency Training or teaching Trauma Sensitive Yoga.  She is also a Master Resiliency Trainer for units at Peterson -Schriever Garrison.

Her favorite thing about yoga is that it creates a safe space no matter where you are.  Stepping on the mat is stepping into that space.

When she’s not practicing yoga, she’s driving the mom taxi around to after school activities and taking care of three cocker spaniels and her diabetic cat.

AMY D.

Amy came to yoga to find relief from back pain in 2002.  She has stayed with yoga because she finds the intersection of breath, movement and meditation to be transformative.  She enjoys the gift of this shared practice with playful preschoolers, mindful middle schoolers, and adults of every stage and age of life - even older adults well into their nineties!  Amy has been practicing and guiding gentle, trauma-informed yoga since 2010.

PATTI C.

In 2020, Patti earned her 220hr Yoga Teacher Training certification in Boise, ID. She and her husband moved to Colorado Springs later that same year; since then, Patti has been passionate about bringing support to those in the Colorado Springs community who are interested in improving their own personal health and wellness.

Aside from practicing yoga, Patti enjoys being outside, reading, drinking tea, drawing and writing. She is very passionate about bringing awareness to the importance of mental and emotional health, and loves connecting with others who are on a similar journey.

JIM R.

Jim is a 10 year Navy veteran and began practicing yoga 15 years ago. He came to yoga to help with focus and clarity as a software engineer. After attending classes for several years and desiring more knowledge and experience, he attended a Yoga Teacher Training. During teacher training, he deepened his understanding of the mind-body connection and became interested in how he could help veterans with the practice. While teaching in Denver, CO, he was introduced to a program that trained people in trauma-informed yoga for veterans. After attending the training he started applying the techniques in regular yoga classes and began searching to further his involvement in the veteran community. After learning of Comeback Yoga, he started his journey in sharing a practice that has allowed him to gain more empathy, compassion, and clarity.

MIA C.

Growing up, Mia was very fortunate to spend an abundance of time in nature. Most of her childhood days consisted of exploring, playing and creating outdoors. This has inspired her to practice a lifestyle rooted in wellbeing and to ground in nature whenever possible.

When a teenager, Mia was introduced to yoga by a great teacher. The centering benefits and sustainable therapeutic effects yoga offers, kept bringing her back to various practices and trainings ever since. When not working, she enjoys hiking, running, playing with her doggie, cooking, baking, paddle boarding, snowboarding, traveling.

TIFFANY S.

Tiffany has been a yoga teacher and bodyworker since 2004. While she has studied many different approaches to health and movement throughout the years, her passion has always been rooted in a physical practice that offers wider-reaching mental and emotional benefits.

Her fascination with the adaptability of the human mind and body has inspired her to work specifically with people who have experienced significant challenges. She is not a veteran herself, but has witnessed the effects of combat on several family members and friends.

In her private practice as a massage and craniosacral therapist, she has been privileged to accompany many veterans on a path of healing and presence. She believes the most effective methods are often the simplest. Her teaching style incorporates breath work, meditation, and coordinated movement with an emphasis on exploration and self-expression.

DAN R.

If you told him at that time he would enjoy yoga, certainly his reaction would not have been positive. However, one morning while lifting weights with a friend, they put a yoga program on in the background. In between sets, he tried a few poses and couldn’t believe standing still could be so challenging.

Due to chronic back pain, he decided to give yoga a try. Dan practiced yoga off and on, primarily on his own, for about fifteen years. After moving to Denver two years ago, he joined VFW Post 1 and began practicing yoga there. He discovered an inviting and fun atmosphere. Over time, he decided to become a teacher and serve his fellow vets.

Dan’s spirit of yoga is enjoyment and celebration, so his classes are lighthearted and relaxed. He invites you to try yoga a few times like he did. Perhaps you will experience the many benefits as well.
