As a retired Geologist, Wendy understands that the earth is constantly changing. This knowledge informs her yoga practice. The central theme of Wendy’s teaching is that yoga, meditation and study are self-care in a world undergoing constant flux. Through this awareness of eternal change, she believes we begin to understand and accept the evolving natural beauty of ourselves. It is her goal to encourage others to wonder, observe and marvel at the changing forces at work. This “metamorphosis” in thinking can help put into perspective how we, like the earth, can attain resilience and equilibrium.
Yoga doesn’t have to be fast or dull to be a fun and effective method to connect the mind and the body. During a typical yoga class, Wendy begins with orienting the mind to accept the practice and create a safe, supportive space. The core of the class focuses on asanas or poses. As one pose flows into the next we gain strength, focus and flexibility. Each pose is coordinated with breathing and focused gaze for developing concentration and vital energy. The class ends with a short meditation when we quiet the senses, calm the mind and relax the body. Special attention is devoted to alignment and safe movement. Personal acceptance and awareness through coordinating spinal alignment, breathwork and poses are of particular interest in Wendy’s practice. Wendy’s class is appropriate for all yoga practitioners, as modifications are provided throughout the class.
Wendy feels extremely grateful to be living life to the fullest in a beautiful place she passionately loves. Off the mat you can find Wendy skiing, hiking or exploring.
